Arnav meaning
Arnav (अर्णव) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Foaming, restless; a wave, flood; the sea, ocean
Arnav (अर्णव) is the Sanskrit arṇava. As an adjective Monier-Williams gives it as "agitated, foaming, restless", and as a noun a wave or flood and, above all, the sea. The Rigveda uses it for the foaming sea and also for the ocean of air, the vast expanse of the sky, which it sometimes personifies. In later Sanskrit arṇava is simply one of the standard words for the ocean, and it was also used for the number four and as the name of two poetic metres. Name lists give Arnav as "ocean" or "sea", in line with the dictionary. In Bengali the same name is written and pronounced Arnab, and Arnov is another spelling.
