Dhruvil (ध्रुविल) is a modern name made from Dhruv. Its root, the Sanskrit dhruva, is well documented: Monier-Williams gives it as fixed, firm, immovable and lasting, and as the pole star, personified as the devoted boy Dhruva of the Purāṇas. The ending -il, however, is not a Sanskrit suffix with a fixed meaning, and Dhruvil itself is not in the dictionaries. Families use it to mean "steadfast" or "constant like the pole star", and Indian name lists give the same. It is used in Gujarat, alongside similar newer names such as Dhrumil and Darshil.
