Dhyan meaning
Dhyan (ध्यान) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Meditation, thought, reflection; profound religious meditation
Also used to mean: concentration
Dhyan (ध्यान) is the Sanskrit dhyāna, from the root dhyai, "to think of, to contemplate". Monier-Williams gives it as meditation, thought and reflection, especially deep religious meditation, and notes that Buddhists divide it into stages. In yoga it is the seventh of Patañjali's eight limbs, and the same word travelled east to become Chan in Chinese and Zen in Japanese. In everyday Hindi dhyān also means attention or care. Indian name lists give "meditation" or "concentration". Dhyan is a modern boys' name, short and easy to say in any language.
