Gurmail meaning
Gurmail (ਗੁਰਮੇਲ) is a Sikh boy's name of Punjabi origin.
Gur (the Guru) joined with mel (meeting, union)
Gurmail (ਗੁਰਮੇਲ), also spelled Gurmel, joins gur, the Guru, with mel. The Mahan Kosh gives mel as a meeting or union, and also as the gathering of relatives at a wedding. In the Guru Granth Sahib the word describes the soul's union with God; on Ang 214 Guru Arjan speaks of the round of births coming to an end and of being merged with the Lord. The name therefore means union with the Guru, or one who has met the Guru. It is a traditional Sikh boys' name. Gurmail Singh, a member of India's gold-medal hockey team at the 1980 Moscow Olympics, is a well-known bearer. The whole name is not a dictionary headword; its meaning comes from its two parts.
