Gurshaan meaning
Gurshaan (ਗੁਰਸ਼ਾਨ) is a Sikh boy's name of Punjabi origin.
Gur (the Guru) joined with shān (dignity, glory)
Gurshaan (ਗੁਰਸ਼ਾਨ) joins gur, the Guru, with shān, from Arabic shaʾn. Platts' dictionary gives shān as condition or rank and also dignity, pomp, grandeur and glory, the sense it has in everyday Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi. The name reads "glory of the Guru". Name lists offer several other readings, such as "respected and honoured" and even "lion of the Guru", which the word shān does not support. It is a modern boy's name.
