Imtiaz meaning
Imtiaz (امتیاز) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin (Urdu usage).
Being distinguished or set apart; distinction
Also used to mean: excellence
Imtiaz (امتیاز) is Arabic imtiyāz, from the root m-y-z, "to separate, tell apart". Lane's lexicon defines māza as setting one thing apart from another or telling things apart, and imtāza, the form behind imtiyāz, as being set apart and distinguished from others. In Urdu imtiyāz means distinction or honour, and Pakistan's civil awards such as Sitara-e-Imtiaz use it. Name lists give "distinction" or "excellence", which follows the dictionary. The name is used by Indian Muslim families and is carried by the film director Imtiaz Ali.
