Ishrat meaning
Ishrat (عشرت) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin (via Persian and Urdu), also used for boys.
Pleasure, delight, enjoyment; companionship, society
Ishrat (عشرت) comes from Arabic ʿishra, from the root ʿ-sh-r, a word for companionship and close fellowship. In Persian and Urdu it became ʿishrat, and Steingass' dictionary gives conversation, society and familiarity alongside pleasure, delight and enjoyment, with compounds such as ʿishrat-khāna, "a house of pleasure". Name lists give Ishrat as "joy" or "delight". The name is used by Urdu-speaking families in India, for both girls and boys.
