Jyotiranjan meaning
Jyotiranjan (ज्योतिरंजन) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Odia usage).
Compound of jyotis, 'light', and rañjana, 'pleasing, delighting'
Jyotiranjan (ज्योतिरंजन, Odia ଜ୍ୟୋତିରଞ୍ଜନ) joins Sanskrit jyotis, "light", with rañjana, "pleasing, delighting". Monier-Williams uses jyotis for the light of the sun, of dawn, fire and lightning, and for the brightness of the sky. Rañjana literally means colouring, and from there came to mean pleasing, charming or delighting. The pair suggests someone who brings delight as light does. The compound itself is not in the dictionary, so the meaning rests on its parts. Like Rashmiranjan and Biswaranjan, it belongs to the family of -ranjan names heard in Odisha, and it is often written as two words, Jyoti Ranjan.
