Preet meaning
Preet (प्रीत) is a Hindu unisex name of Hindi origin (from Sanskrit prīti), used for both girls and boys.
Love, affection, fondness, friendship
Preet (प्रीत, Gujarati પ્રીત) is the Hindi and Gujarati form of Sanskrit prīti, from the verb prī, "to please, to delight". Platts lists prīt with the senses of friendship, liking, fondness, regard, affection and love, and name lists give the same meaning, love. In Punjab, Preet is the second half of names such as Gurpreet, Harpreet and Manpreet, and on its own it is used for girls and boys. In Gujarat, Preet is mainly a boys' name, and the fuller form Preeti is a girls' name used across India.
