Rehmat meaning
Rehmat (رحمت) is a Muslim and international girl's name of Arabic origin (Urdu usage), also used for boys.
Mercy, pity, compassion; tenderness of heart; kindness; forgiveness
Also used to mean: blessing
Rehmat (رحمت) is the Urdu form of Arabic raḥma, from the root r-ḥ-m, which also gives the divine names al-Raḥmān and al-Raḥīm. Lane's lexicon defines raḥma as mercy, pity or compassion, tenderness of heart, an inclination to do good to others, and forgiveness. The Quran says the Prophet was sent "as a mercy to the worlds" (21:107). Name lists give Rehmat as "mercy" or "compassion", and some add "blessing", the everyday Urdu sense of rahmat. In India it is mainly a girls' name, though it has also been used for men.
