Rida meaning
Rida (رضا) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin.
Contentment, approval, good pleasure
Also used to mean: satisfaction, favour
Rida (رضا) is Arabic riḍā, the state of being pleased or content. Lane's Lexicon adds that it is used for approval, and for permission or consent. The root's verb appears in Quran 5:119, which describes God as pleased with the faithful and they with Him, and in Islamic spirituality riḍā means contentment with God's will. Name lists give "contentment", "satisfaction" or "favour". In Urdu the Arabic ḍ is sounded z, so this word is usually said and spelled Raza or Riza, mostly as a boy's name. Some families who name a daughter Rida write it ردا instead, an Urdu word of Arabic origin meaning a cloak, mantle or wrap, so the spelling decides the meaning.
