Salahuddin meaning
Salahuddin (صلاح الدین) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Righteousness of the faith
Salahuddin (صلاح الدین) joins two Arabic words: ṣalāḥ, which Lane's lexicon defines as goodness, rectitude, righteousness and virtue, the opposite of fasād, "corruption", and dīn, "religion", whose first sense Lane gives as obedience. Together they mean "the righteousness of the faith", one of the family of honorific names that end in -uddin. Its most famous bearer is Saladin, Ṣalāḥ al-Dīn Yusuf ibn Ayyub, the twelfth-century sultan of Egypt and Syria who took Jerusalem in 1187.
