Shivanshu meaning
Shivanshu (शिवांशु) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Ray of Śiva (śiva + aṃśu 'a ray, sunbeam')
Also used to mean: ray of Shiva, part of Shiva
Shivanshu (शिवांशु) joins Śiva with aṃśu, which Monier-Williams gives as a filament of the Soma plant and as a ray of light or sunbeam. Read together it means a ray of Śiva, and name lists give "ray of Shiva"; some also give "part of Shiva", the meaning of the related Shivansh, which ends in aṃśa, "portion", instead. The compound itself is not in the dictionary. Shivanshu is a modern name in north India, from the same pattern as Sudhanshu and Himanshu.
