Umed meaning
Umed (उमेद) is a Hindu boy's name of Persian origin (via Hindi and Rajasthani). By its first sound, उ, it is a Vrishabh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Hope, expectation; trust
Umed (उमेद) is the Hindustani word for hope. Platts' dictionary lists it with its other spellings umīd, ummed and ummaid, and gives the senses hope and expectation, trust and dependence, and the hope of a child. The word came into Hindi from Persian omīd and is used as a name in Rajasthan, where it is often written Ummed, as in the Rajput name Ummed Singh. Name lists give the meaning simply as "hope". Its best-known bearer is Maharaja Umaid Singh of Jodhpur, who commissioned the Umaid Bhawan Palace.
