Vinay meaning
Vinay (विनय) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Guidance, training, discipline; good conduct, modesty
Also used to mean: humility, politeness
Vinay (विनय) comes from Sanskrit vinaya, a noun built from vi- and the verb nī, "to lead". Monier-Williams gives its senses as leading, guidance and training, especially moral training and discipline, and then good breeding, propriety of conduct, decency, modesty and mildness. The Purāṇas sometimes personify Vinaya as a son of Kriyā or of Lajjā. In Buddhism the same word names the Vinaya, the rules of discipline for monks. On Indian name lists Vinay is usually given as "humility" or "politeness", which is a fair reading of the dictionary's sense of modest, well-trained conduct. Vinaya is used as a feminine form.
