Bratati meaning
Bratati (व्रतती) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin (Bengali usage).
A creeping plant, creeper; expansion, spreading
Bratati (व्रतती) is the Bengali form of Sanskrit vratati, which Monier-Williams gives as "a creeping plant, creeper", a word used as far back as the Rigveda; the lexicons also give it the sense of spreading or expansion. In Bengali poetry the flowering creeper is an image of grace and gentle growth, and name lists give Bratati simply as "creeper". Bengali pronounces the Sanskrit v as b and the short a as o, so the name is said "Brototi". The elocutionist Bratati Bandyopadhyay is a well-known bearer.
