Farah meaning
Farah (فرح) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin.
Joy, mirth, gladness, happiness
Farah (فرح) is the Arabic faraḥ, the noun of the verb fariḥa, "he rejoiced". Lane defines it as joy, mirth or gladness, or happiness, and gives related words for a cause of joy and for a thing that makes one glad. He also records that the verb could shade into exulting beyond measure, and the Quran uses it that way when Qārūn's people tell him not to exult in his wealth (28:76). Elsewhere it uses the related fariḥīn for those who rejoice in God's favour (3:170), and the name keeps that plain, warm sense. Name lists give Farah as "joy" or "happiness", matching the dictionary. The boys' name Farhan comes from the same root.
