Ganesh meaning
Ganesh (गणेश) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Lord of the gaṇas; the god Gaṇeśa, son of Śiva and Pārvatī
Ganesh (गणेश) is the name of the elephant-headed god, from Sanskrit gaṇa, a troop or host, especially the attendants of Śiva, and īśa, "lord". Monier-Williams describes Gaṇeśa as the god of wisdom and of obstacles, the son of Śiva and Pārvatī, who is invoked at the beginning of every undertaking. The same word is used once in the Mahābhārata as a name of Śiva himself, and in Jain usage a gaṇeśa is a senior disciple placed in charge of others. Families name sons after the god directly, and Ganesan is the usual Tamil form.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Ganesha.
