Gangesh meaning
Gangesh (गंगेश) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Lord of the Ganga (from gaṅgā and īśa); name of a philosopher
Also used to mean: Lord Shiva
Gangesh (गंगेश) joins Gaṅgā, the river Ganges, and īśa, "lord". Monier-Williams describes Gaṅgā as the "swift-goer", the river personified as the eldest daughter of Himavat, and gives īśa as ruler, master or lord and as a name of Śiva. It records gaṅgeśa itself as the name of the author of the Tattvacintāmaṇi: Gaṅgeśa of Mithila, the 14th-century logician who founded the Navya-Nyaya school. Name lists give Gangesh as "lord of the Ganga" and link it to Shiva, who caught the river in his hair.
