Gangeya meaning
Gangeya (गांगेय) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, गा, it is a Makar rashi name (Dhanishta nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Of the Ganges; son of Ganga, Bhishma; also Skanda
Gangeya (गांगेय) is Sanskrit gāṅgeya, "of the Ganges". Monier-Williams gives it as being in or belonging to the Ganges, and as a name of Bhīṣma in the Mahabharata and of Skanda (Kartikeya), both called sons of Gaṅgā. Bhishma, the great elder of the Kuru family, was born Devavrata, son of King Shantanu and the river goddess Ganga, and is often called Gangeya in the epic. The dictionary also lists gold as a later sense. Name lists give Gangeya as "son of Ganga" or Bhishma, matching the dictionary.
