Gurdas meaning
Gurdas (ਗੁਰਦਾਸ) is a Sikh boy's name of Punjabi origin.
Servant or devotee of the Guru
Also used to mean: servant of the Guru
Gurdas (ਗੁਰਦਾਸ) means "servant of the Guru": gur, the Guru, and dās, a servant or devotee, a word the Guru Granth Sahib uses on Ang 13. The Mahan Kosh entry for Gurdas begins with that sense and then describes Bhai Gurdas, who wrote out the first Granth compiled by Guru Arjan and whose forty vārs it calls a major source of Sikh teaching. The name has been borne by Sikhs ever since; the singer Gurdas Maan is a well-known modern bearer.
