Hardeep meaning
Hardeep (ਹਰਦੀਪ) is a Sikh unisex name of Punjabi origin, used for both girls and boys.
Dīp, a lamp, of Hari, God
Hardeep (ਹਰਦੀਪ) is made of har, from hari, and dīp, a lamp. The Mahan Kosh counts God the Creator among the senses of hari and traces dīp to a root meaning "to shine". The lamp is a familiar image in the Guru Granth Sahib, where ਦੀਪ appears for example on Ang 57. Together the parts give "lamp of God", which Sikh name lists also render as "light of God". The name is given to boys as Hardeep Singh and to girls as Hardeep Kaur. A well-known bearer is the diplomat and Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
