Mahfooz meaning
Mahfooz (محفوظ) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Kept, preserved, guarded, taken care of
Also used to mean: protected
Mahfooz (محفوظ) is the Arabic maḥfūẓ, the passive participle of ḥafiẓa, which Lane's lexicon explains as to keep, preserve, guard or protect something and prevent it from being lost. Lane defines maḥfūẓ as kept, preserved or guarded, especially because it is highly valued, and notes that in Mecca it was used for a young child as a word of good omen. The Quran speaks of the lawḥ maḥfūẓ, the Preserved Tablet, in 85:22. Name lists give the meaning as "protected" or "guarded". Mehfooz is an Indian spelling.
