Maimoona meaning
Maimoona (میمونہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin (Urdu usage).
Fortunate, blessed, happy (feminine of maymūn)
Maimoona (میمونہ) is the feminine of the Arabic maymūn, from the root y-m-n. Lane's lexicon defines maymūn as fortunate, happy or blessed, and yumn, the root noun, as prosperity, good fortune and auspiciousness; the same root gives yamīn, "the right hand", the side of good omen. The name is honoured as that of Maymuna bint al-Harith, the last woman the Prophet married and one of the Mothers of the Believers. Name lists give Maimoona as "blessed" or "fortunate", in line with the dictionary. It is used by Muslim families across India.
