Nivedya meaning
Nivedya (निवेद्या) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin (Malayalam usage).
To be presented or offered; an offering of food to a deity
Also used to mean: offering to God
Nivedya (निवेद्या, Malayalam നിവേദ്യ) is the Sanskrit nivedya, from the verb ni-vid, which in its causative form means to make known, to present or to offer. Monier-Williams gives nivedya first as an adjective, "to be communicated or related or presented or delivered", and then as a noun: an offering of food to a deity, the same as naivedya. Gundert's Malayalam dictionary records naivēdyam as the meal offered to the deity in a temple, and Kerala temples still call such offerings nivedyam, such as the butter nivedyam offered to Krishna. Name lists give Nivedya as "offering to God", which matches the dictionary. It is a girls' name heard mainly among Malayali Hindu families. Naivedya, the longer form of the same word, has its own page.
