Qamaruddin meaning
Qamaruddin (قمرالدین) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Moon of the faith (qamar + al-dīn)
Qamaruddin (قمرالدین) joins Arabic qamar, "moon", with al-dīn, "of the faith". Lane's lexicon defines qamar as the moon after its first nights, named for its whiteness, and dīn as obedience and religion. The name means "moon of the faith", which is also how name lists give it, an image of someone who gives light to the community. Its best-known Indian bearer is Mir Qamar-ud-din Khan, who became the first Nizam of Hyderabad as Asaf Jah I in 1724. In Arabic the same phrase is also the name of a popular apricot drink.
