Rajneesh meaning
Rajneesh (रजनीश) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Lord of the night: the moon
Rajneesh (रजनीश) is Sanskrit rajanīśa, made of rajanī, "night", and īśa, "lord". Monier-Williams gives it the same sense as rajanī-pati, "lord of night", a poetic name for the moon, and name lists agree. Note that the first part is rajanī, "night", not rāja, "king", so the opening vowel is short: RUJ-neesh. A well-known bearer is the spiritual teacher Rajneesh, later called Osho. Rajnish is an alternative spelling.
