Raju meaning
Raju (राजू) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, रा, it is a Tula rashi name (Chitra nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Affectionate form of Raj-, from rājan 'king'
Raju (राजू) began as the affectionate short form of names starting with Raj-, such as Rajendra, Rajkumar and Rajesh, and is now also given as a full name. All of these go back to Sanskrit rājan, "king, sovereign, prince", so the name is usually explained as "king". The -u ending is the friendly diminutive heard in many north and south Indian pet names. In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Raju is also a family name. A well-known bearer is the comedian Raju Srivastava.
