Ramanuj meaning
Ramanuj (रामानुज) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, रा, it is a Tula rashi name (Chitra nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Younger brother of Rāma; name of the Vaiṣṇava teacher Rāmānuja
Also used to mean: younger brother of rama, lakshmana
Ramanuj (रामानुज) is Sanskrit rāmānuja, joining Rāma with anuja, "born after", that is, a younger brother. Monier-Williams gives "younger brother of Rāma", usually understood as Lakṣmaṇa, and records the name of Rāmānuja, the great twelfth-century teacher of Śrīraṅgam and Kāñcīpuram who taught Viśiṣṭādvaita, "qualified non-dualism"; his followers regard him as an incarnation of Śeṣa. The Tamil form Ramanujan is famous through the mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan.
