Rufaida meaning
Rufaida (رفیدہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin.
(root r-f-d) a gift; aid, help, assistance
Also used to mean: helper, supporter, kind-hearted
Rufaida (رفیدہ) is an old Arabic name from the root r-f-d. Lane's lexicon gives rifd as a gift, and as aid or help of any kind, whether a gift, a drink of milk or a kind word; the name itself has the shape of a diminutive. Name lists give Rufaida as "helper" or "supporter", which follows the root. The name recalls Rufayda al-Aslamiyya, a woman of Medina in the Prophet's time who nursed the wounded and is remembered as the first nurse in Islamic history. A building at the Aga Khan University's nursing school in Karachi bears her name.
