Anisa meaning
Anisa (انیسہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin.
A friendly, cheerful companion; one whose presence comforts
Anisa is the feminine of Arabic anīs, from the root ʾ-n-s, which gives uns, 'companionship, friendliness', the opposite of loneliness. Lane's lexicon defines anīs as a sociable, friendly or cheerful companion, or anything whose company or presence cheers and comforts a person. Two details on the same page are especially apt for a name: Lane records that al-anīsa, 'the companionable one', was a name for fire, because a traveller who sees it at night is cheered even in the desert, and that a girl of cheerful mind, whose company people love, was called ānisa. Baby-name lists give 'friendly' or 'companion', the dictionary sense. The name is used for girls in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
