Ruhan (روحان) is a modern name. We could not find rūḥān as a word in Lane, Steingass or Platts. Families who choose it connect it with Arabic rūḥ, which Lane defines as the soul or spirit, the vital principle by which living things live, and with rūḥānī, "spiritual", a word Lane notes is used of spiritual beings such as angels. Name lists give Ruhan as "spiritual" or "kind-hearted". So the name is best understood as a modern coinage that echoes rūḥ rather than a dictionary word. It is also spelt Ruhaan.
