Shriya meaning
Shriya (श्रिया) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Prosperity, happiness; personified as the wife of Viṣṇu
Also used to mean: lakshmi, auspicious
Shriya (श्रिया) is the Sanskrit śriyā, which Monier-Williams records as another form of śrī, "prosperity, happiness", personified as the wife of Śrīdhara, a name of Viṣṇu, and so a name of Lakṣmī. It appears in classical poetry and the Bhāgavata Purāṇa. Śrī itself is one of the richest words in Sanskrit, covering light, beauty, fortune and royal dignity, and is used before names as a mark of respect. Name lists give Shriya as "prosperity", "Lakshmi" or "auspicious", which match the dictionary. It is a different name from Shreya, which comes from śreyas, "better". Sriya is a South Indian spelling.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Lakshmi.
