Sundaresan meaning
Sundaresan (சுந்தரேசன்) is a Tamil and Hindu boy's name.
Shiva as worshipped at Madurai; 'the beautiful lord'
Sundaresan (சுந்தரேசன்) is a name of Shiva as he is worshipped at Madurai, where he is Sundareswarar, the consort of the goddess Meenakshi. It joins Sanskrit sundara, which Monier-Williams gives as beautiful, handsome or lovely, and īśa, lord, a common name of Shiva, so it reads 'the beautiful lord'. The Tamil Lexicon of the University of Madras records cuntarēcaṉ in exactly this sense. The Madurai legends tell of Shiva coming to the city as a handsome prince to marry Meenakshi. Sundaresan is a traditional Tamil boys' name, often shortened to Sundar.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Shiva.
