Talib meaning
Talib (طالب) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Seeking, desiring; a seeker; a student of knowledge
Also used to mean: seeker of knowledge
Talib (طالب) is the Arabic ṭālib, "one who seeks", from ṭalaba, "to seek, to desire". Lane's lexicon defines it as seeking, desiring or demanding, or one who seeks something in order to find and obtain it, and notes its use in ṭālib ʿilm, "a seeker of knowledge", that is, a student; the plurals ṭullāb and ṭalaba mean students. Name lists give "seeker" and "student". Abu Talib, the uncle who raised and protected the Prophet, carried it in his kunya, which is why his son Ali is called Ali ibn Abi Talib.
