Thangam meaning
Thangam (தங்கம்) is a Hindu and Tamil girl's name, also used for boys.
Pure gold; something precious, of great worth
Thangam (தங்கம்) is the everyday Tamil word for gold. The Tamil Lexicon of the University of Madras gives taṅkam first as pure gold and then, in a sense every Tamil parent knows, as that which is precious or of great worth; 'en thangam', 'my gold', is a common endearment for a child. As a name it is traditional and affectionate, given mostly to girls, sometimes with the respectful ending -amma or -ammal. The same word begins many boys' names, such as Thangaraj, 'golden king', and Thangavel, 'golden spear'.
