Tulsidas meaning
Tulsidas (तुलसीदास) is a Hindu boy's name.
Servant of the tulasi, the holy basil sacred to Vaishnavas
Also used to mean: servant of Tulsi, devotee
Tulsidas (तुलसीदास) joins tulasī, the holy basil that Monier-Williams describes as a small shrub venerated by Vaiṣṇavas, with dāsa, "servant", a word often used at the end of devotional names. The name therefore means "servant of the tulasi", and through it a devotee of Viṣṇu and Rāma. It is forever linked with Goswami Tulsidas, the sixteenth-century poet whose Rāmcaritmānas retold the Rāmāyaṇa in Awadhi and remains the best-loved Rāma text of North India; his childhood name is said to have been Rambola. Name lists give the same meaning.
