Akhtari meaning
Akhtari (اختری) is a Muslim girl's name of Persian origin (Urdu usage).
Of the stars, starry (from akhtar, 'a star')
Akhtari (اختری) comes from Persian akhtar, "a star". Steingass' Persian dictionary gives akhtar as a star, and also as a horoscope, an omen and a banner, and the ending -ī turns it into "of the stars" or "starry". It is used by Urdu-speaking families and is best known through the ghazal singer Begum Akhtar, who was born Akhtari Bai Faizabadi in 1914. Today it is given less often than the shorter Akhtar, which is used for both boys and girls.
