Arooj meaning
Arooj (عروج) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin (Urdu usage).
Ascending, rising up
Also used to mean: height, rise, elevation
Arooj (عروج), also spelled Urooj, is Arabic ʿurūj, from the root ʿ-r-j. Lane's lexicon gives it as the verbal noun of ʿaraja, "he ascended or mounted up". The same root gives miʿrāj, the word for the Prophet's night ascension. In Urdu ʿurūj is an everyday word for rise and success, which is why name lists give Arooj as "height", "rise" or "elevation". It is mainly a girl's name in India and Pakistan. A well-known bearer is the Pakistani-American singer Arooj Aftab.
