Ashfaq meaning
Ashfaq (اشفاق) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Kindnesses, favours; compassion, tenderness
Ashfaq (اشفاق) comes from the Arabic root sh-f-q, "to feel pity, to be tender". Steingass's dictionary gives ashfāq as the plural of shafaq, "kindnesses, favours", and lists with it ishfāq, "compassion, pity, tenderness", the word families often have in mind. Name lists give Ashfaq as "compassion" or "kindness". In India the name is closely tied to the revolutionary Ashfaqulla Khan, hanged in 1927 for his part in the Kakori train action, whose friendship with Ram Prasad Bismil is remembered as a symbol of Hindu-Muslim unity.
