Atiya meaning
Atiya (عطیہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin (Urdu usage).
A gift; a thing given
Also used to mean: gift of God
Atiya (عطیہ) is Arabic ʿaṭiyya, from the root ʿ-ṭ-w, "to give". Lane's lexicon lists it with ʿaṭāʾ, a gift or something given, and notes that ʿaṭāʾ was also the word for a soldier's pay from the public treasury. Name lists often add "gift of God", a natural reading for a child, though the word itself simply means a gift. The Urdu ʿaṭiyya is used in the same sense. A well-known bearer was Atiya Fyzee (1877–1967), a writer from Bombay's Tyabji family who corresponded with Allama Iqbal and Shibli Nomani.
