Azra meaning
Azra (عذرا) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin (via Persian and Urdu).
A virgin, maiden; also the sign Virgo; an unpierced pearl
Also used to mean: pure
Azra (عذرا) is Arabic ʿadhrāʾ, "a virgin", as it is said in Persian and Urdu, where the Arabic dh sound becomes z. Lane's lexicon gives the word's first sense as a virgin, and also records poetic and technical uses: the zodiac sign Virgo, a pearl that has never been pierced, and a sand-hill no one has walked on. Name lists give Azra as "maiden" or "pure". The name is used by Muslim families in India and Pakistan. It is not related to the Hebrew name Ezra.
