Balabhadra meaning
Balabhadra (बलभद्र) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Odia usage).
Strong, powerful; a name of Balarāma
Balabhadra (बलभद्र, Odia ବଳଭଦ୍ର) is a Sanskrit name that Monier-Williams gives both as an adjective, "strong, powerful", and as a name of Balarāma, Krishna's elder brother, and of Ananta, the great serpent identified with him. In Odisha it is above all the name of the elder deity of the Jagannath Temple at Puri, where Balabhadra is worshipped with his brother Jagannath and their sister Subhadra and rides his own chariot, Taladhwaja, in the annual Rath Yatra. Families who name a son Balabhadra draw on that worship. Odia writes the l with the letter ḷa, and the name is pronounced with Odia's rounded o sounds.
