Debaprasad meaning
Debaprasad (देवप्रसाद) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Odia usage). By its first sound, दे, it is a Meen rashi name (Revati nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Having the favour of the gods (deva + prasāda); in MW also the name of a man
Debaprasad (देवप्रसाद, Odia ଦେବପ୍ରସାଦ) joins deva, "god", with prasāda. Monier-Williams gives prasāda first as clearness and brightness, then as graciousness, kindness and favour, and also as the food offered to a deity and shared afterwards, the prasad of every temple visit. Monier-Williams lists the compound devaprasāda itself, as "having the gods' favour", and as the name of a man in the Rājataraṅgiṇī, so the name describes one who enjoys the favour of the gods. Odia and Bengali pronounce the Sanskrit v as b, giving Deba- rather than Deva-. A well-known bearer was Guru Debaprasad Das, one of the first-generation gurus of Odissi dance.
