Debayan meaning
Debayan (देवायन) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Bengali usage). By its first sound, दे, it is a Meen rashi name (Revati nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
The path or course of the gods (deva + ayana)
Debayan (देवायन, Bengali দেবায়ন) joins Sanskrit deva, "god, divine", and ayana, which Monier-Williams gives as a road or path, and as the course of the sun; it is the word behind the Bengali name Ayan. Read together, Debayan means "the way of the gods". The idea is an old one: the Vedas and Upanishads speak of devayāna, the way leading to the gods, which the dictionary records with much the same meaning. The Bengali name is formed a little differently, with ayana, but carries the same sense. It is a modern Bengali name, also spelt Debayon.
