Banani meaning
Banani (বনানী) is a Hindu girl's name of Bengali origin.
A great forest; an extensive forest
Banani (বনানী) is a Bengali word for a great, wide forest. The Samsad Bengali–English Dictionary defines it as a great forest or an extensive forest. It is built on বন, bana, the Bengali form of the Sanskrit vana, which Monier-Williams gives as a forest, wood or grove, and also as a thick cluster of lotuses or other plants. We did not find banānī itself in Monier-Williams, so we treat the name as a Bengali word and show it in Bengali script. Bengali says the first vowel with a rounded sound, so it is often written Bonani in English. A well-known bearer was the Rabindra Sangeet singer Banani Ghosh, a pupil of Kanika Banerjee, who died in Kolkata in 2023.
