Chetas meaning
Chetas (चेतस) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, चे, it is a Mesh rashi name (Ashwini nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Consciousness, intelligence, mind, heart; in the Ṛgveda, splendour
Chetas (चेतस) is the Sanskrit cetas, a neuter noun that Monier-Williams lists under the root cit, "to perceive, to know". Its senses are "consciousness, intelligence, mind, heart", and in the Rigveda also "splendour"; the Atharvaveda uses it for the will. The word forms compounds such as pracetas, "attentive, observant, wise", which in the Vedas is said of the gods Agni and the Ādityas and which later became the name of an ancient sage and law-giver. Name lists give Chetas as "consciousness" or "mind", matching the dictionary. In Sanskrit the word ends in a consonant, चेतस्, but the name is usually written चेतस. It comes from the same root as Chetan.
