Dakshita (दक्षिता) is a modern name built on the Sanskrit dakṣa, which Monier-Williams gives as able, fit, clever and dexterous, and as ability and strength of will. The form dakṣitā itself is not in the classical dictionaries, so the name has no dictionary meaning of its own. Families use it in the sense of its root, "skilled" or "expert", and Indian name lists give the same, often linking it with the older names Daksha and Dakshata, "dexterity". In South India it is usually spelled Dakshitha.
