We haven't confirmed a dictionary meaning for the name itself. The meaning above is how families commonly use it.
Durvesh (दुर्वेश) is a modern Marathi boys' name. Most families read it as dūrvā plus īśa, "lord of the durva grass", a way of naming Ganesha, to whom bunches of durva grass are offered in worship. Monier-Williams records dūrvā as bent grass or panic grass, and īśa as "lord", but it does not record the compound, and Indian name lists disagree: some give "Ganesha", some "lord of the universe", and others the musical instrument shehnai. Because no dictionary settles it, we show the Ganesha reading as the family meaning rather than a sourced one.
