Furqan meaning
Furqan (فرقان) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
What distinguishes truth from falsehood; a name of the Quran; proof
Also used to mean: criterion
Furqan (فرقان) is Arabic furqān, from the root f-r-q, "to separate". Lane's lexicon defines it as anything that separates truth from falsehood, and records that al-Furqān is a name of the Quran, and also of the Law given to Moses. Further senses include proof, the first light of dawn, and help or victory; the day of the battle of Badr is called yawm al-furqān. The 25th surah of the Quran is named al-Furqān, and its first verse speaks of God sending down the Furqān to His servant. Name lists give "criterion" or "proof", matching the dictionary.
